Keith Guenther
founded Wildland Solutions in 1997 after working for the USDA
Forest Servicein
Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and California. Keith has
an extensive background in rangeland ecology, and administration
of grazing and wildlife programs. He is both a Certified
Rangeland Manager, licensed by the State of California (#040),
and a TWS Certified Wildlife Biologist.
Wildland Solutions
is devoted to providing high quality products and services that
are practical and useful for owners and managers of rangeland
resources. Products developed and currently available
include the Residual Dry Matter (RDM) Monitoring Photo-Guide
and the Low Maintenance Roads field guide.
Both publications communicate important concepts and information
using easy to understand graphics and high quality photographs.
Rangeland
assessments
conducted by Wildland Solutions are tailored to the needs of
the individual situation. A Geographic Information System (GIS)
database can be developed that includes traditional facilities
inventories of fences, water developments and roads, as well
as a forage monitoring program with identified key areas for
monitoring residual forage. All information is collected and
displayed using easy to read maps and summary tables of key
information.

Keith
believes that intelligent management of our natural resources
requires an understanding
of the dynamics within nature. The outdated
"Balance of Nature"
concept has created numerous problems as people try to force
a balance that mother nature just isn't willing to agree with.
Managers of natural resources need to forget the wishful thinking
implied in the "Balance of Nature" concept and gain an understanding
of the Chaos theory, which is much more relevant to management
of natural
resources. Check out Keith's poster encouraging people
to recognize the dynamics of, and need for adaptation to, the
inherent chaos found in nature. Feel free to download
a copy of the poster for your personal use.
